Brighton & Hove Albion are expected to sign striker Deniz Undav from Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise on transfer deadline day.

It is thought that the 25-year-old will remain on loan in Belgium for the remainder of the 2021-22 campaign, before heading to his new club in the summer.

Undav is a German forward who is Union SG’s top scorer in the Belgian First Division this season.

In total he has 35 goals in just 48 appearances for the club, who he joined from German lower league side Meppen in 2020.

Union Saint-Gilloise, currently leading Belgium’s top-flight, are co-owned by Tony Bloom who has been Brighton’s chairman since 2009.

Bloom bought a stake in the Brussels-based club three seasons ago and Undav would be the first player to move from Union SG to Brighton.

Brighton have sent players on loan to the Belgian club, however, with the 24-year-old Japan international Kaoru Mitoma and 18-year-old Polish international Kacper Kozlowski currently enjoying spells at the Stade Joseph Marien.
