Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel has tested positive for COVID-19.

The German has now entered into self-isolation and will miss Saturday's FA Cup fourth-round game against Plymouth at Stamford Bridge. First-team coach Arno Michels will take charge of today's game.

There are now doubts over whether Tuchel will be able to travel to the Club World Cup in Abu Dhabi.

Chelsea's first game in the competition is the semi-final on Wednesday. If they win that, they will take part in a final on Saturday. The west London club are bidding to win the competition for the first time after capturing the Champions League last season.

They are planning to fly out later on Saturday, after their game against Plymouth.

A Chelsea statement read: “The Chelsea head coach will now follow necessary self-isolation protocols and hopes to join up with the team in Abu Dhabi later next week.

“The team fly out for the Club World Cup following this afternoon's FA Cup clash with Plymouth Argyle.”

Tuchel is bidding to win the FA Cup for the first time this season. He has already led his side to the Carabao Cup final later this month, while his side are still in the Champions League and in the mix for the Premier League title.
